I was pouring ingredients into a bottle and discovered that the end result looked a lot like the sand art that children enjoy making (shown below).
Ingredients in my “food art”:
- ground flax seeds
- chia seeds
- ground walnuts or other nuts
- hemp seeds
- ground sunflower or other seeds
I scoop about a tablespoon into hot or cold cereal, but you can add it to rice or other dishes. My “food art” isn’t as colorful a colored sand but the results are pretty to look at and nutritious.
Sand art is sold in kits or add paint to sand to make the colors. Children may enjoy using a funnel to pour the sand into a bottle with a narrow opening (working on bilateral coordination). Salt and food coloring can also be used…
