Opening a backpack to retrieve toys is so simple! Yet, it works on the following skills:
- Bilateral hand use (using hands together)
- Visual attention because children are motivated to find their toys
- Manipulation skills to open and close a zipper
- Postural control to balance while sitting, standing, kneeling, or other positions the child assumes while manipulating the backpack.
- Concepts of “in” and “out as the child retrieves or puts away toys or “open” and “closed” when manipulating zippers.
