Communicating “Go” and “Whoa” during Hippotherapy

One of the experiences I loved most when providing occupational therapy to early intervention clients using hippotherapy was watching them learn to use their hands and voice to make the horse go and stop. They were extremely motivated to enjoy the joy of movement! Many of these children were unable to sit independently, stand, walk or speak, so being able to communicate “go” and “whoa” to their new equine friends was really exciting….
