Reaching above the head is aerobic exercise for individuals unable or unwilling to engage in other types of gross motor activities. If the person has adequate balance try the following: Place materials high enough so that they need to stand on toes briefly to attach the item (i.e. hanger, ring or items into a box or tube). Then they can reach down to a box on the floor to retrieve more materials.
Consider placing a vibrating object in the box holding the materials being used for tasks….
