Adapted Sensory Board and Suspended Shake Activities

The following sensory activities are designed for clients with limited cognitive and hand skills. They provide sensory stimulation with materials that make sounds, vibrate, have fun textures, and can be manipulated in a similar way to how babies do when using an infant sensory board.

Sensory boards and suspended materials are especially fun for individuals who are blind and/or deaf. The board shown below was made by attaching sensory items to large book stand.

The client shown below puts everything in her mouth and likes to keep her hands busy. So I attached the following materials to her wheelchair tray.
